“The Rhythm Kings” part of AtlanticFest entertainment
The Rhythm Kings take stage during AtlanticFest at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, playing a mixture of Classic Rock, Classic Country, Rockabilly, and Folk Rock. Members of the group are musicians who have performed for many years in various groups in and around the area.
Members are:
Paul Fay of Lenox, originally from Lewis, is also a member of the Blue Tones and has been playing for 43 years. He plays the bass guitar and also upright bass and vocals. He also has been a Studio Musician and worked for 12 years at the Midwest Country Music Theatre.
Dave Reeves, of Maryville, Mo. plays lead guitar and vocals, a very accomplished musician, been playing 45 years, mostly in southern Iowa. He has been with “Duane Dick and the Jive Five,” “The Honky Tonk Heroes,” “Country Blue Notes” and “Red Line.” He has also done studio work as well.
Ray Armstrong of Atlantic has been playing drums and vocals for well - a long time. He is a two-time inductee into the Iowa Rock & Roll Music Association Hall of Fame.
He was inducted with the group “The Fortes” in 2004, and again in 2006 with ‘The Great Imposters” who also are working again in the area. He has worked as a drummer for “Little Ritchie” numerous times. Different groups he has been with have opened for quite a few big name groups “The Rip Cords,” twice with the “Beach Boys,” “Sonny & Cher” “Three Dog Night,” and ‘Tommy James and the Shondells.” He has played in six states while operating Armstrong Plumbing and Heating for the past 39 years. He is also a member of the “Blue Tones,” and occasionally “The Thunderbolts,” out of Carroll.
Roger Burger of Harlan, now living in Coming, has played guitar, sung vocals, worked as MC and as a booking agent, and his career spans 35 years. He also has done some studio and recording work. He has played with numerous other bands during his careers.
The Rhythm Kings varied song list covers a wide type of music, which has something for everyone to come and enjoy.
