AtlanticFest: Big Boy Toys
If you’ve got a need for speed or chrome - you’ll want to make time to stop by AtlanticFest on Saturday, Aug. 16 in downtown Atlantic. The annual celebration will feature cars and motorcycles, with an expanded area for cars this year.
This year marks the 10th Annual AtlanticFest Car Show, sponsored by Deter Motor Company and Wyman Auto. The event has grown tremendously in popularity, drawing contestants from all around the region. In addition to door prizes, there are huge trophies and patriotic dash plaques. Plus every entry received by Wednesday, Aug. 13 will receive a free AtlanticFest Car Show T-shirt.
On show day, registration runs from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and is $15. Trophy presentation is scheduled for 4 p.m. The entrance to the AtlanticFest Car Show will be set up at Third and Poplar. For more information contact Rob Clausen, 243-2981.
For those preferring two-wheeled transportation, join us for the annual AtlanticFest Ride-In Bike Show. This motorcycle show is open to all makes, and includes multiple classes and four special awards, including “the most likely to get picked up by the police.” The entry fee is $10. Registration runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Third and Walnut, with awards presented at 2 p.m. For more information, contact Jack Jensen at 243-4667.
And if you’re a tractor or antique equipment fan, stop by the AtlanticFest Antique Tractor Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There’s no official judging, but folks can vote for the first, second, and third place “People’s Choice” winners. Registration is free for this event. Participants enter at Fourth and Poplar between 10 a.m. and noon.
For a taste of something different, swing by the Audio Sound Competition taking place by the Depot at 10 a.m. For more information, call Custom Body & Sound at 243-2381.
