ATLANTIC - Cass/Atlantic Development Corporation (CADCO) received $10,000 in grant money after applying for $20,000 in the hopes of putting in a rural water line near property around Interstate 80 and Highway 71, according CADCO Director Russell Joyce. Joyce talked about the grant money during the Atlantic Community Promotion Commission (CPC) meeting held on Thursday.
Joyce said the grant applied for was a Rural Business Enterprise Grant, and currently there are rural water lines that run south in the area, but Joyce hoped lines could be put in that run east and west. Joyce said matching funds would be needed for the grant, and CADCO has up to three years to use the funds.
In other CPC news, CPC member Jerry Grandquist announced the American Legion group was hosting the Iowa Baseball Tournament, which will be held in Atlantic on July 19-20. Sixteen teams would be playing in the tournament during games from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Little League Field and an awards ceremony would be held following the games.
