ATLANTIC - Interested in seeing some musical comedy? Members of the Atlantic Elks Club can help you out.
They are offering a fund-raiser for the club on Saturday, Feb. 9 that includes a performance by Gerry Grossman, otherwise known as "The Human Jukebox."
According to Grossman's web site, www.gerrygrossmanthehumanjukebox.com/, "Gerry has been playing his special brand of rock and roll comedy since the late 1960's. He grew up in Chicago, and before becoming a favorite on the comedy circuit, spent 20 years touring in the world of rock and roll. Back then, and to this day, Gerry infuses every show with content and a special energy customized for that evening's audience. Because of this, his show flows seemlessly from comedy clubs to corporate shows, from festivals to touring with major rock acts. Gerry has always felt an enormous sense of affection and gratitude for his audiences, and that approach guarantees that every night is a special evening, filled with music and laughter."
According to information from Atlantic Elks Club members, "The Human Jukebox' combines a stunning repertoire of old Rock and Roll hits with audience active comedy assuring an evening of incredible entertainment. Gerry, who brings 25 years of touring experience to each show, has shared the bill with The Temptations, Cheap Trick, The Turtles, John Denver, Johnny Rivers, Tammy Wynette, R.E.O. Speed Wagon and many more. (Grossman puts on) a fabulously entertaining one man show, featuring tremendous audience involvement with a repertoire of thousands of hits. His medleys of crowd requested hits are woven around his incredible stand comedy in a performance that keep every audience rocking with music and rolling with laughter. The comedy veteran puts on a hilarious and amazing show!"
Tickets are $20 per person, and can be purchased at Rex Pharmacy or at the Elks Club. Organizers encourage individuals to purchase tickets early because there is a limited amount of them.
The event also includes an all you can eat fish and chicken special, with the doors for the dining room opening at 5 p.m. that evening. The upstairs doors will open at 6 p.m., and the main event will start at 7 p.m.
The club donates to many different causes, including for drug prevention and awareness, for their dictionary program and comic book program for elementary students, to the boy scouts and to help preserve their historic building in Atlantic.
