Plans made for ‘Sights, Sounds of Christmas’ journey
A holiday trip to the Sights and Sounds of Christmas presentations at Dana College, Blair, Neb., is being sponsored by Wesley Heritage House, on Sunday, Dec. 2, according to Patsy Wood, administrative assistant, and Beth Johnson, activity director, who urge the public and Heritage House residents to sign up as soon as possible. They said the bus will leave for Blair at 9 a.m. For more information, call the office at 243-1850.
Showcase Sounds
One of the highlights will be at the Gardner-Hawks Center, which will be transformed into a winter wonderland of trees and poinsettias, perfect for the Showcase Concert, the can’t miss event of Sights and Sounds of Christmas celebration. It will be featuring the sounds of Dana’s alumni vocalists and chorale as well as the high school showcase choir from Millard West High School.
Also a part of the concert will be a moving reenactment of the Swedish Festival of Lights by Dana’s Santa Lucia Singers, a tradition for more than 30 years.
Dana College Alumni are returning to usher in the season with a taste of musical theater. They will present Broadway’s take on the Christmas holiday in song and dance under the direction of Dr. Paul Schenider.
The concert concludes with the Dana College Chorale. This is an internationally renowned ensemble. Kara Rovere, former TV personality, will emcee the event.

The Christmas Marketplace features area artists and craft makers with their display of Christmas decorations, ornaments and gifts. Kringle and other Danish treats will also be available for sale.
The Blair Dance Center will present their third annual Holiday Dance Extravaganza.
They say, “The dancers will dazzle you with this Christmas production that is sure to delight an audience of all ages with its wide variety of holiday music and dance styles.” The show offers everything from beautiful ballerinas twirling on their toes, to High Energy Hip Hop and Pom numbers, Contemporary Christian Liturgical dance, and of course, Broadway-style Tap and Jazz routines.
The menu for the Scandinavian Smorgasbord includes frikadeller-meatballs, medisterpolse-sausage, asebleflaesk-stuffed pork loin, carved turkey, smoked salmon -creamed peas and carrots, red cabbage, brunde karatofler, sugar brown potatoes, buttered red potatoes, assorted cheeses, fruits and breads, cucumbers in sour cream, salads, liver pate, herring in wine sauce and cream sauce, and delicious desserts including spiritz cookies, rice pudding, red fruit pudding with cream, klejner, brune kager, pebernodder, jodekager, Jewis cakes, medaljer medals and tarts.
