ATLANTIC - He's looking for people who want to ring a bell. Last year Salvation Army volunteer bell ringers in Atlantic helped collect about $3,000 for the Salvation Army and this year, Dave Hancock of Atlantic is working on signing up organizations to provide volunteer bell ringers for this Christmas season.
Hancock, of the Kiwanis Club of Atlantic, is coordinating the holiday bell ringing for the second year in a row, noting the "effort is truly a community effort, with numerous civic organizations participating by providing staff to ring the bells and tend the collection kettles."
Those who would like to sign up for an hour shift should contact Hancock at 712-243-4019 or 712-249-0766.
Chairs, bells, and Salvation Army aprons are provided, and if volunteers want, Santa hats are appropriate. He encourages volunteers to dress warmly and "bring a friend, spouse or other family member to keep you company."
