Want to get some holiday decorating ideas and help out the Cass County Museum? Buy a ticket and attend the museum’s Christmas walk set for Saturday, Dec. 8. The walk is sponsored by the members of the Cass County Museum and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Five different locations in the Griswold area are part of the Christmas walk including the Creighton Retreat Center, Jim and Betty Johnston, Duane and Julie Adams, Lisa Butler and Jitters Coffee and Gifts (Kevin and Tina Sindt). The walk will be held from 2 to 6:30 p.m., although the Creighton Retreat Center location will only be open until 5 p.m., so organizers encourage those on the Christmas Walk to go to that location first.
Tickets are $10, and proceeds from the walk will go to Cass County Museum. They can be purchased at the museum in Griswold, at The Flower Basket in Griswold or by calling Shiona Putnam at 712-789-2841 or Lila Hoogeveen at 712-778-4141. Tickets can also be purchased at the museum on the day of the Christmas Walk.
A taxi service will also be available for those individuals unable to drive, and those interested should call Putnam or Hoogeveen no later than 11 a.m. on the day of the walk.
Following are the descriptions of the Christmas Walk locations from organizers;
Creighton Retreat Center-16493 Contrail Ave: “Father David and his staff welcome you to Kateri Chapel and the Loyola Dining Hall. You will see on display a Father Christmas and Snow Globe Collection. Visiting this beautiful facility will be a wonderful start to the holiday season.”
Jim and Betty Johnson-310 Eighth Street: “This beautiful new brick home was built in 2006. The home is contemporary in style and shows Jim and Betty’s collections. Betty has been a collector for many years and she has an amazing variety of Santas on display, several she has crafted herself.”
Duane and Julie Adams-609 Fifth Street: “This 1985 Ranch is decorated on the outside just as much as on the inside. Duane, as a retired art teacher, displays many of his own works throughout the home. Julie will proudly show you her doll collection. Also check out the homemade wreaths.”
Lisa Bulter-202 Fifth Street: “This turn of the century house has gone through a major restoration the past few years. Lisa and her children have added the warmth, and love, and laughter, which turned a house into a home, which you will see with the touches Lisa added.”
Jitters Coffee and Gift Shop (Kevin and Tina Sindt)-408 Main Street: “This lovely new Coffee and Gift Shop is a beautiful addition to Salon T’s and our Main Street. It is beautifully decorated for the holiday season with gifts, candies and speciality drinks.”
