ATLANTIC -The Cass County Supervisors voted four to one to approve submitting an application for a $600,000 Community Development Block Grant - and a $288,000 USDA-Rural Development loan for a day care center.
The county will act only as a “pass-through” agent for the grant and loan and will have no financial responsibility for either. The project is expected to cost around $988,000.
Supervisor Chair Chuck Kinen was not present at the vote, but voted no through a phone call. Supervisors Duane McFadden, Bill Behnken, Dave Dunfee and Chuck Rieken voted yes, but Rieken asked that guarantees the county would have no financial risk be added in to the wording of the motion.
