ATLANTIC - They're rolling out the red and white all over Atlantic. A longtime tradition continues this weekend, as area collectors decorate the windows of downtown businesses. The 15th annual Atlantic Coca-Cola Days gets underway with a tailgate party on Friday and includes a variety of activities on Saturday.

The theme for this year's event is "007....License to Chill" and collectors and area residents can pick up special t-shirts with the "007... License to Chill" theme at the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce, Rex Pharmacy and the Coca Cola Show, Swap and Sell gathering for $15 for adult sizes up to 3XL, and $10 for kids sizes small and medium. Other souvenirs include Atlantic Coca Cola Capital of Iowa collectible glasses, at $5 each and bottle koozies with the "007... License to Chill" logo.

Last year 130 collectors from all over the country attended the event, which starts out with an annual Coca-Cola Tailgate Party on Friday night. From 5-7 p.m. collectors and area residents can have a hamburger or brat, potato salad, baked beans, dessert and "an ice-cold Coca-Cola" at the Rock Island Depot for $6.50.

And all those attending the Tailgate Party dinner get a free ticket to the "Sneak Peak!" event held Friday night at the Herring Building at Second and Poplar streets, offering a chance to get a first glimpse of the memorabilia that collectors will have on display during Saturday's Coca-Cola Show, Swap and Sell. The "Sneak Peak!" event is held from 6-8 p.m. and tickets are $5 or free, with the purchase of a Tailgate Party dinner.

On Saturday the Show, Swap and Sell opens at 9 a.m. at the Herring Building and is open, free to the public, until 2 p.m. More than 100 collectors are expected to be on hand with Coca-Cola memorabilia to show, swap and sell, ranging from apparel to kitchen towels, from advertising to toys.

Those attending the Show, Swap or Sell can also purchase tickets for this year's Coca-Cola raffle. Tickets are $1 for one or six for $5, and the prizes are a specially designed afghan featuring one of Atlantic's Coca-Cola murals or a specially designed Coca-Cola gift basket.

"This afghan is very unique, and it's a neat item to have in your home, whether you're a collector or not," Ann McCurdy, Executive Director of the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce said.

The gift basket was put together by the Coca-Cola Days Committee, and features Coca-Cola Days merchandise in a red Longaberger basket. It's full of t-shirts, a platter, glasses, and more, organizers said.

Both raffle prizes are on display at the chamber and the drawing for will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22. The winners need not be present to win. Raffle tickets may also be purchased at the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce before Saturday.

Also during the Show, Swap and Sell, a special display of priceless Coca-Cola memorabilia will be available for viewing in the Herring building, with collectors on hand to answer questions.

New this year, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. area residents and visitors alike will get the chance to opportunity to take a helicopter ride above Atlantic with pilot John McLaughlin. Rides will vary in cost depending on the length of the flight.

At 4 p.m. kids of all ages will participate in the annual Coca-Cola Days Parade. Kids and families are encouraged to get creative "decking out their wagons, bikes or themselves," organizers said, for the parade. Over $300 in prizes are awarded in this fun family event, and thanks to the sponsorship of Pamida, all entrants will be entered into a drawing for a portable DVD player.

And visiting members of the Iowa Chapter of the Coca-Cola Collectors Club will get together for their annual meeting at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Cass County Community Center. To join the club, contact ICCCCC c/o Melanie Bower, 207 SE Diehl, Des Moines, Iowa 50315. Dues are $15 per year.
