Walnut Antique Walk starts Friday
The annual AMVETs Walnut Antique Show and Walk is set to start Friday, and runs through Father’s Day weekend, June 15-17.
There is no charge to get in, or for parking, and the hours for the show are Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For general information about Walnut or the June Antique Show call (712) 784-2100. For more information on the AmVet’s Antique Show, go to www.walnutantiqueshow.com.
Organizers said last year’s show “was blessed with beautiful weather,” and said 40,000 to 45,000 attended along with the 300 plus dealers who made up the show.
“These dealers bring some of the finest antiques to be found. This includes anything from fine antique furniture to primitives, glassware to linens, marbles to quilts, dolls to advertising items, fishing lures to toys, and the list goes on,” organizers said. “Many of the dealers save their finest antiques to bring to the Walnut AMVET’s Antique Show, which adds to the show and makes the customers keep returning for this annual event.”
Organizers say the reason for holding the Antique Show and Walk is “to provide a show where dealers can sell antiques and customers can buy antiques. With the hard work of the AMVET’s and the Walnut community, this show is one of the finest antique shows in the Midwest.”
The show is advertised nationwide, and draws dealers from half of the states.
Food provided by many Walnut organizations from the Fireman’s all you can eat Country Breakfast to the Optimists’ steak fry. Other groups serve pork sandwiches, turkey legs, spaghetti and the AMVET’s famous Funnel Cakes.
