Wednesday last day to buy “Big Band Dance” meal tickets

Wednesday is the last day to buy tickets for the meal that will be part of the “Big Band Dance” Event scheduled for Saturday. A list of silent auction items to purchase was also released. Proceeds from this year’s dance and silent auction will go towards the new marching band uniforms for the AHS Marching Band.
According to a press release about the dance, first doors will be open at 5:30 p.m. for individuals to look through items for a silent auction. At 6 p.m., a meal will be served, The dinner will be catered by Farmer’s Kitchen, and will include: chicken breast, pork loin roast, baked potato, salad, green beans, and dessert.
At 7:15 p.m., members of the AHS Jazz One group will perform, “providing swing, polka, and Latin music throughout the night” for the crowd. And during intermission, members of the AHS Jazz II and the AMS Jazz Band will also be performing. Ed and Deb Leistad, Jake and Pam Auerbach, Jake Dewulf and Barb Wollenhaupt, Gail and Kathy Butler, Bob and Helen Wendt, and Duane and Shirley Acker have volunteered to be part of the local “Dancing with the Stars” competition held during the event, and voting will take place throughout the evening, with the winners being announced at the end of the evening, as well as winners of the silent auctions. The evening will end with a raffle drawing for a riding lawn mower from Orcheln Farm and Home LLC. Tickets for the 2007 Big Band Dance are available at the AHS Office, Rex Pharmacy, and Daniel’s Fine Jewelry and tickets for the dinner and dance are $20, and tickets for dance admission only are $5. Over 40 packages of silent auction items will be available, and the items will be divided in five sections, A through E, and bids for each section will end at a specific time. Section A will end at 7:30 p.m., section B will end at 8 p.m., section C will end at 8:30 p.m., section D will end at 9 p.m., and section E will end at 9:30 p.m. The auction includes a variety of packages for sale including one with a massage from tranquil touch, hair care products from Upper Cut and dessert or homemade fudge from Main Street. Another is a package with Atlantic Trojan apparel, an Ed Podolak autograph, four tickets to the St. Louis Cardinals game versus the San Diego Padres game and a $50 gas card. There is also a Jordan Creek Shopping Trip package, which includes a stay at Staybridge Suites, $25 dinner at Applebees, $25 Gas Card and Fridley Theatre Movie passes. There are also packages, which include a 30-minute air tour of Atlantic, Cola Coca items and guitar lessons from Guy Somers.
