Atlantic High School finds their coaching replacements

Atlantic High School has named its replacement for long-time girl’s basketball coach Don Jenkins, handing over the reigns to Casey Pelzer.
Pelzer, a Cumberland and Massena graduate will head up the girl’s basketball program and eighth grade volleyball and has been hired to be the new SWIMS teacher, a program at AMS involving At Risk youth from Atlantic, CAM, Exira, Walnut, Griswold and Elk Horn.
Pelzer is a Buena Vista graduate and has coached at Tri-Center Middle School/High School in junior high football and girls basketball.
Also replacing Jenkins for softball is Lori Lammers, who will take over in 2008 and will also serve as head volleyball coach and eighth grade girls basketball. Lammers, who will replace Craig Fredin as volleyball coach, is a West Delaware and Loras College grad who has spent the last 11 years coaching high school volleyball and softball in Texas.
Lammers has been hired to teach social studies at AHS.
Jennifer Nissen will serve as head softball coach for the 2007 season before Lammers takes over in 2008. Nissen has served as an assistant under Jenkins for three seasons.
